In the autumn of 2008, I opted to go abroad for a semester. Through the Erasmus exchange programme I ended up in Tampere, Finland. I followed the Interactive Media Programme, which has a great focus on video production.
And that’s were the interfaculty in Maastricht came to an end for me. Where my fellow students had 4 more modules in 18 weeks ahead of them, I and classmate Brian Cox bailed to Tampere, Finland, off to study a semester abroad. Best thing since sliced bread! During the 5 months we’ve spent there, we met so many interesting people, from all over the world, seen a rather unknown side of Europe (and even further), and ended up studying in a foreign country, experiencing another approach on education. We attended various courses, with the 3 highlights being guest lectures from Chris Hales and Timo-Pekko Nieminen (who has some excellent references working at DNeg London), and the DVD-project we worked on as a class. Spending 5 months in the darkness of the High North really opened up my eyes on the world, and ignited my love for travel.
Although I haven’t added all the stories, you can read some more about my life in Tampere
